چکیده

Xanthium strumarium L. is a globally successful invasive herb that has had significant negative ecological, economic and social impacts in many world regions. The present study was therefore conducted to evaluate the potential spatial distribution patterns of X. heavily invaded plant communities semiarid regions northern Pakistan. Investigations were based on data from 20 plants grown Herbarium at University Malakand, observations 450 plots distributed across 45 stands representing habitats Northern Province including open fields, hillocks abandoned areas both urban rural areas. Multivariate analysis identified elevation, organic matter carbon as environmental variables most associated with by strumarium. Increased soil silt positively available water negatively strumarium–invaded communities. These key characteristics allowed us identify four main associations: Group I: strumarium-C. sativa, II: strumarium-P. hysterophorus, III: strumarium-A. aspera IV: sativa. Other species observed, either exotic, such P. or indigenous, C. sativa D. inoxia, often co-occurring responding similarly these factors. results suggest high temperature drought stress could be determinant increasing population lower elevations, whereas colder climates adequate moisture are related reduced populations higher near species’ upper range limits. It recommend inclusion appropriate, additional climatic models implemented order better explain ecological niches help guide conservation protection plans for native

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

Ethnobotanical, phytochemical and toxicological studies of Xanthium strumarium L.

The present study describes the ethnobotanical, phytochemical, and toxicological evaluations of Xanthium strumarium L. growing in Bangladesh. In toxicity evaluation on rats, the methanol extract of seedlings showed mortality, while both seedling and mature plant extracts raised the serum alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase values and produced significant abnormalities in the histopa...

Potential for the Invasive Species Aedes Albopictus and Arboviral Transmission through the Chabahar Port in Iran

Background: Dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses are emerging infectious disease threats wherever suitable vectors, hosts, and habitat are present. The aim of the present study was to use the bioagent transport and environmental modeling system (BioTEMS) to identify the potential for arbovirus-infected Aedes species to invade the Chabahar area in southeastern Iran. Methods: ArcGIS geospatial a...

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis Identifies Putative Genes Involved in the Biosynthesis of Xanthanolides in Xanthium strumarium L.

Xanthium strumarium L. is a traditional Chinese herb belonging to the Asteraceae family. The major bioactive components of this plant are sesquiterpene lactones (STLs), which include the xanthanolides. To date, the biogenesis of xanthanolides, especially their downstream pathway, remains largely unknown. In X. strumarium, xanthanolides primarily accumulate in its glandular trichomes. To identif...

Phytochemical compositions and biological activities of essential oil from Xanthium strumarium L.

The chemical composition of the essential oil (EO) from fresh cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium L.) leaves was investigated by GC-MS. The antimicrobial activity of the EO was tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Scolicidal activity was assayed against Echinococcus granulosus protoscolices. In total, 34 compounds were identified, accounting for 98.96% of the EO. The ma...
